Fikri IŞIK was born in the Babacan village of Gümüşhane on 13 September 1965, his father’s name is Tevfik and his mother’s name is Mecbure.
IŞIK, who is a teacher and businessman, graduated from the Department of Mathematics Education of the Faculty of Education of METU.
He taught maths and English in private schools. He worked as manager in the food sector.
He became the Founder Member of Kocaeli Provincial Administrative Body of the Justice and Development Party (Ak Parti) on 20 October 2001.
He became the Ak Parti Kocaeli Provincial Chairman on 22 June 2003 and maintained this duty for 4 years.
He was elected as Member of Parliament of Ak Parti from the Kocaeli constituency in the 23rd and 24th Legislation Terms.
He had the responsibility of 47 provinces in different parts of Turkey as Regional Coordinator and Deputy Chairman of the Ak Parti Central Organization between 2007 and 2013.
He was elected as Chairman of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly on 31 January 2013.
He served as Minister of Science, Industry and Technology during the 61st, 62nd, 63rd and 64th Terms of Government.
IŞIK is appointed as Minister of National Defence during the 65th Term of Government.
He is the member of Middle East Technical University Alumni Association Foundation, Hereke Education and Culture Solidarity Association, Red Crescent, Green Crescent, Moonlight Parentless Children Assistance Association and Kocaeli Gümüşhaneliler Foundation.
IŞIK speaks English fluently and Arabic in the intermediate level. He is married and has 4 children.
