Yaşar GÜLER was born in Ardahan in 1954. He graduated from Army Academy with the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1974 and from Signal Corps School in 1975.

Having served as Signal Platoon and Company Commander at various units between the years of 1975 and 1984, Yaşar GÜLER graduated from Army War College in 1986 and from Armed Forces College in 1988.

As a staff officer, he served as Chief of Operations at Internal Regional Command between 1986 and 1988, as Planning Officer at Evaluation and Inspection Division of the Army between 1988 and 1991, as Chief of Operations and Training Branch at the 12th Infantry Division between 1991 and 1992, as Internal Security Battalion Commander between 1992 and 1994 in Silopi, as Turkish Deputy Brigade Commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 1994 and 1995, as Project Officer at the Office of Military Senior Counsellor of the Presidency between 1995 and 1997...

Tümgeneral Alaattin KOVAL 1882 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1903 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1906 yılında kurmay yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. 25 Kasım 1908’de kurmay kıdemli yüzbaşılığa terfi etti. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 24 Temmuz 1911’de 4’üncü Tümen kurmay başkanı olarak atandı. Trablusgarp ve Balkan Savaşlarına katıldı. 12 Nisan 1914’te kurmay binbaşı oldu. Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda 5 Temmuz 1915’te Zığındere Taarruzu, 12-13 Temmuz 1915’te İkinci Kerevizdere Muharebesi, Arıburnu, Conkbayırı ile Birinci ve İkinci Anafartalar Muharebelerine katıldı. 14 Aralık 1916’da kurmay yarbay oldu. Daha sonra 2’nci Kolordu kurmay başkanı olarak atandı. Bu görevde Doğu Cephesi’nde Murat mihverindeki (Temmuz-Eylül 1916) muharebelere katıldı. 1916 yılında 5’inci Kafkas Tümen komutan vekili olarak atandı. Bu görevde Doğu Cephesi’nde 1917 yılı mevzi muharebelerine katıldı. Daha sonra 55’inci Tümen komutanı olarak atandı ve bu görevde Doğu Trakya Harekâtı’na katıldı, müteakiben Elcezire Cephesi kurmay başkanlığına getirildi. 1 Mart 1922’de kurmay albay oldu. Nisan 1922’de 41’inci Tümen komutanı olarak görev yaptı. Bu görevde Büyük Taarruz’a katıldı. Daha sonra sırasıyla 1’inci Ordu Müfettişliği Kurmay Başkanlığı, 1’inci Tümen Komutanlığı yaptı. 30 Ağustos 1927’de tümgeneralliğe terfi etti. 5 Şubat 1928’den itibaren Piyade Makineli Tüfek Müfettişliği yaptı. Osmanlı Devleti tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Tümgeneral Alaattin KOVAL, 8 Ağustos 1930’da vefat etmiştir.

Major General Alaattin KOVAL was born in İstanbul in 1882. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1903, and from the War College, where he attended, as a staff captain in 1906. He was promoted to staff lieutenant commander on November 25, 1908. He served in various echelons in the army until 1911. He was appointed as the chief of staff of the 4th Division on July 24, 1911. He entered the Turco Italian and Balkan Wars. He became a staff major on April 12, 1914. In the First World War, he participated in the Zığındere Offensive on July 5, 1915, the Second Battle of Kerevizdere on July 12-13, 1915, the Battles of Arıburnu, Conkbayırı and the First and Second Anafartalar. He became staff lieutenant colonel on December 14, 1916. He was later appointed as the chief of staff of the 2nd Corps. While he was on this duty, he participated in the battles on the Murat axis (July-September 1916) on the Eastern Front. In 1916, he was appointed as the acting commander of the 5th Caucasian Division. While he was on this duty, he participated in the 1917 position battles on the Eastern Front. He was later appointed as the commander of the 55th Division and participated in the Eastern Thrace Operation while he was on this duty, and subsequently was appointed as the chief of staff of the El Jazeera Front. He became a staff colonel on March 1, 1922. He served as the commander of the 41st Division in April 1922. He participated in the Great Offensive while he was on this duty. Later, he served as the Chief of Staff of the 1st Army Inspectorate and the 1st Division Commander, respectively. He was promoted to major general on August 30, 1927. From February 5, 1928, he served as Infantry Machine Gun Inspector. Major General Alaattin KOVAL, who was the owner of various decorations and medals given by the Ottoman Empire and the Medal of Independence given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on August 8, 1930.
