HALİT KARSIALAN
1883-1925
Tümgeneral Halit KARSIALAN 1883 yılında İstanbul’da doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1903 yılında teğmen rütbesiyle mezun oldu. 22 Temmuz 1908’de üsteğmenliğe, 27 Nisan 1911’de yüzbaşılığa terfi etti. 1912 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. Nisan 1912’de Trablusgarp’a gitti. 30 Kasım 1912’de Trablusgarp’tan dönerek Doğu Ordusuna tayin edildi ve bu görevde iken Balkan Savaşı’na katıldı. 22 Ocak 1914’te Harbiye Dairesine tayin oldu. Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na katıldı 17 Ocak 1915’te Kafkasya’da Mürettep Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa Alayı 2’nci Artvin Taburu Komutanlığına atandı. 23 Haziran 1915’te binbaşılığa terfi eden KARSIALAN, daha sonra aynı Alayın komutanı, Bağımsız Artvin Müfrezesi komutanı, Şubat 1915’te Çoruh Müfrezesi komutanı olarak tayin edildi. 14 Haziran 1916’da yarbay oldu. 18 Mayıs 1917’de Batı Dersim Komutanlığı, Erzurum Harekâtında Sağ Kanat Müfreze Komutanlığı, 19 Mart 1918’de 3’üncü Kafkas Tümeni Komutanlığı yaptı. Millî Mücadele’de 27 Kasım 1919’da 15’inci Kolordu Kafkas Tümeni Komutanlığına atandı ve bu görevde iken 6 Aralık 1920’de albay oldu. 21 Ocak 1921’de Tümen Komutanlığı yetkisiyle Kocaeli Grup komutanı, 4 Mayıs 1921’de 12’nci Grup komutanı olarak atandı. 31 Ağustos 1922’de tümgeneralliğe terfi eden KARSIALAN, 4 Kasım 1922’de Büyük Taarruz’dan sonra Batı Cephesi Komutanlığı emrine tayin edildi. 5 Temmuz 1923’te Ardahan milletvekilliğine seçildi. Osmanlı Devleti, Alman İmparatorluğu ve Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Tümgeneral Halit KARSIALAN 14 Şubat 1925’te vefat etmiştir.
Major General Halit KARSIALAN was born in Istanbul in 1883. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1903. He was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant on July 22, 1908; captain on April 27, 1911. He served in varied positions in the army until 1912. He went to Tripoli in April 1912. He turned back from Tripoli and was appointed to Eastern Army on November 30, 1912 and participated in Balkan War while on this duty. He was appointed to War Office on January 22, 1914. He participated in the First World War while on this duty and was appointed to 2nd Artvin Battalion Command of Dispositional Ottoman Special Organization (Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa) Regiment in Caucasia on January 17, 1915. Promoted to major on June 23, 1915 KARSIALAN was appointed as the commander of the same Regiment; the commander of the Independent Artvin Detachment; the commander of Coruh Detachment in February 1915. He became lieutenant colonel on June 14, 1916. He served as the Commander of Western Dersim on May 18, 1917; the Commander of Right Flank Disposition during the Erzurum Operation; the Commander of the 3rd Caucasus Division on March 19, 1918. During the War of Independence, he was appointed as the Commander of the Caucasus Division of the 15th Corps on November 27, 1919 and became colonel on December 6, 1920 while on this duty. He was appointed as the Kocaeli Group commander with the capacity of Division Commander on January 21, 1921, as the 12th Group Commander on May 4, 1921. Promoted to the rank of major general on August 31, 1922, KARSIALAN was appointed under the Command of Western Front after Great Offensive on November 4, 1922. He was elected as deputy for Ardahan on July 5, 1923. Major General Halit KARSIALAN who had various decorations and medals decorated by the Ottoman Empire, German Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire as well as the Independence Medal decorated by Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on February 14, 1925.
