Yaşar GÜLER was born in Ardahan in 1954. He graduated from Army Academy with the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1974 and from Signal Corps School in 1975.

Having served as Signal Platoon and Company Commander at various units between the years of 1975 and 1984, Yaşar GÜLER graduated from Army War College in 1986 and from Armed Forces College in 1988.

As a staff officer, he served as Chief of Operations at Internal Regional Command between 1986 and 1988, as Planning Officer at Evaluation and Inspection Division of the Army between 1988 and 1991, as Chief of Operations and Training Branch at the 12th Infantry Division between 1991 and 1992, as Internal Security Battalion Commander between 1992 and 1994 in Silopi, as Turkish Deputy Brigade Commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 1994 and 1995, as Project Officer at the Office of Military Senior Counsellor of the Presidency between 1995 and 1997...

YAKUP ŞEVKİ SUBAŞI

1876-1939

Orgeneral Yakup Şevki SUBAŞI 1876 yılında Harput’ta doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1896 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1900 yılında kurmay yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. 23 Şubat 1901’de kurmay kıdemli yüzbaşı, 3 Mayıs 1907’de kurmay binbaşı oldu. 1912 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. 25 Nisan 1912’de 2’nci Kolordu Kurmaylığına atandı ve bir gün sonra, 26 Nisan 1912’de kurmay yarbay oldu. Balkan Savaşı’na Şubat 1913’te Çatalca Ordusu Topçu Komutanlığı kurmay başkanı olarak katıldı. 14 Mart 1914’te İstanbul Boğazı Müstahkem Mevki komutanı, olarak atandı. Bu görevinde iken Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na girildi. 29 Kasım 1914’te kurmay albaylığa terfi etti. 31 Ağustos 1915’te 19’uncu Tümen komutanı, 15 Ekim 1915’te 3’üncü Kolordu komutan vekili, 21 Ekim 1915’te 15’inci Kolordu komutan vekili, 18 Mart 1916’da Galiçya Cephesi’nde 15’inci Kolordu komutanı oldu. 5 Ekim 1916’da tümgeneralliğe terfi etti. 18 Kasım 1916’da 14’üncü Kolordu komutanı, 10 Ağustos 1917’de 2’nci Kafkas Kolordu komutanı, 11 Ekim 1917’de 2’nci Ordu komutan vekili, 8 Haziran 1918’de 9’uncu Ordu komutanı, 17 Aralık 1919’da Tetkik ve Tasnif Komisyonu başkanı, 31 Aralık 1919’da Yüksek Askerî Şûra üyesi olarak atandı. Mütareke’ye karşı direnmek suçuyla 13 Temmuz 1920’de Malta’ya sürüldü. 31 Ekim 1921’de Malta’dan İnebolu’ya gelerek Millî Mücadele’ye katıldı. 18 Kasım 1921’de 2’nci Ordu Komutanlığına getirildi. 31 Ağustos 1922’de korgeneralliğe yükseldi. 20 Nisan 1924’te Yüksek Askerî Şûra üyesi olarak tayin edildi. 30 Ağustos 1926’da orgeneral oldu. Osmanlı Devleti, Alman ve Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorlukları tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası ve takdirname sahibi olan Orgeneral Yakup Şevki Subaşı 20 Aralık 1939’da vefat etmiştir.

General Yakup Şevki SUBAŞI was born in Harput in 1876. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1896 and from the Military Academy in 1900 as a staff captain. On February 23, 1901, he became a staff senior captain, and on May 3, 1907, a staff major. He served in various ranks of the army until 1912. On April 25, 1912, he was appointed Staff of the 2nd Army Corps, and a day later, on April 26, 1912, he was promoted staff lieutenant colonel. He participated in the Balkan War in February 1913 as the chief of staff of the Artillery Command of the Catalca Army. On March 14, 1914, he was appointed as the commander of the İstanbul Strait Fortified Position. While in this position, the First World War broke out. On November 29, 1914, he was promoted to staff colonel. On August 31, 1915, he was appointed commander of the 19th Division; on October 15, 1915, was appointed commander of the 3rd Army Corps; on October 21, 1915, he became acting commander of the 15th Corps; and on March 18, 1916, he was appointed commander of the 15th Corps on the Galician Front.

On October 5, 1916, he was promoted to major general. He was appointed commander of the 14th Army Corps on November 18, 1916; commander of the 2nd Caucasian Corps on August 10, 1917; deputy commander of the 2nd Army on October 11, 1917; commander of the 9th Army on June 8, 1918; chairman of the Investigation and Classification Commission on December 17, 1919; and member of the Supreme Military Council on December 31, 1919. He was sent on exile to Malta on July 13, 1920, for resisting the Armistice. On October 31, 1921, he came to İnebolu from Malta and participated in the Turkish War of National Sovereignty. On November 18, 1921, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Army. He was promoted to lieutenant general on August 31, 1922. On April 20, 1924, he was appointed as a member of the Supreme Military Council. On August 30, 1926, he became a general. General Yakup Şevki Subaşı, who was awarded various orders and medals given by the Ottoman State, German, and Austro-Hungarian Empires, and the Independence Medal and commendation given by the Turkish Grand National Assembly, passed away on December 20, 1939, in İstanbul.
