Yaşar GÜLER was born in Ardahan in 1954. He graduated from Army Academy with the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1974 and from Signal Corps School in 1975.

Having served as Signal Platoon and Company Commander at various units between the years of 1975 and 1984, Yaşar GÜLER graduated from Army War College in 1986 and from Armed Forces College in 1988.

As a staff officer, he served as Chief of Operations at Internal Regional Command between 1986 and 1988, as Planning Officer at Evaluation and Inspection Division of the Army between 1988 and 1991, as Chief of Operations and Training Branch at the 12th Infantry Division between 1991 and 1992, as Internal Security Battalion Commander between 1992 and 1994 in Silopi, as Turkish Deputy Brigade Commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 1994 and 1995, as Project Officer at the Office of Military Senior Counsellor of the Presidency between 1995 and 1997...

Tümgeneral Yusuf İzzet MET 1876 yılında Yozgat’ta doğdu. Harp Okulundan 1896 yılında teğmen, devam ettiği Harp Akademisinden 1900 yılında kurmay yüzbaşı olarak mezun oldu. 23 Şubat 1902’de kurmay kıdemli yüzbaşılığa, 8 Temmuz 1907’de kurmay binbaşılığa terfi etti. 1911 yılına kadar ordunun çeşitli kademelerinde görev aldı. Trablusgarp Savaşı’na katıldı. 11 Şubat 1912’de Yanya Demir Yolu Komisyonu üyesi olan MET, 26 Nisan 1912’de kurmay yarbay oldu.
9 Kasım 1912’de 2’nci Kolordu kurmay başkanlığına getirildi ve bu göreviyle Balkan Savaşı’na katıldı. 7 Ocak 1914’te 3’üncü Ordu süvari müfettişi, Temmuz 1914’te 2’nci Süvari Tümeni komutanı oldu. 23 Kasım 1914’te kurmay albay olan MET, Birinci Dünya Savaşı’na bu görevle başladı. 10 Ocak 1915’te 10’uncu Kolordu komutanı (Kafkas Cephesi’nde 2’nci Mıntıka komutanı) oldu. 30 Haziran 1915’te tümgeneralliğe yükseldi. 9 Eylül 1916’da 1’inci Kafkas Kolordusu komutanı, 6 Aralık 1917’de 14’üncü Kolordu komutanı, 28 Temmuz 1918’de Kuzey Kafkas komutanı ve askerî temsilcisi, 8 Ağustos 1918’de tekrar 14’üncü Kolordu komutanı olarak atandı. 2 Temmuz 1920’de Bolu milletvekili seçildi ve 10 Temmuz 1920’de Meclise katıldı. Millî Mücadele’de 23 Temmuz 1921’de Batı Cephesi’nde İhtiyat Grubu komutanı, daha sonra 3’üncü Grup komutanı olarak tayin edildi. Sakarya Zaferi’nden sonra Batı Cephesi’nde yapılan yeni teşkilat gereği Meclisteki görevine geri döndü. 1922 yılında komisyon başkanı oldu. Osmanlı Devleti, Alman İmparatorluğu ve Avusturya-Macaristan İmparatorluğu tarafından verilen çeşitli nişan ve madalyalar ile TBMM tarafından verilen İstiklal Madalyası sahibi olan Tümgeneral Yusuf İzzet MET 15 Nisan 1922’de vefat etmiştir.

Major General Yusuf İzzet MET was born in Yozgat in 1876. He graduated from the Military Academy as a lieutenant in 1896, and from the War College as a staff captain in 1900. He was promoted to the rank of staff lieutenant commander on February 23, 1902, staff major on July 8, 1907. He served in varied positions in the army until 1911. He participated in Turco-Italian War. MET who was a member of Ioannina Railway Commission on February 11, 1912, became staff lieutenant colonel on April 26, 1912. He was assigned as the chief of staff of the 2nd Corps on November 9, 1912 and participated in the Balkan War with this duty. He became cavalry inspector of the 3rd Army on January 7, 1914, the commander of the 2nd Cavalry Division in July 1914. MET who became staff colonel on November 23, 1914 entered the First World War with this duty. He became the commander of 10th Corps (2nd Military Zone commander in Caucasus Front) on January 10, 1915. He was promoted to the rank of major general on June 30, 1915. He was appointed as the commander of 1st Caucasus Corps on September 9, 1916; as the commander of 14th Corps December 6, 1917; as the commander of Northern Caucasus and its military representative on July 28, 1918; again as the commander of the 14th Corps on August 8, 1918. He was elected as deputy for Bolu on July 2, 1920 and got into Parliament on July 10, 1920. During the War of Independence, he was appointed as the commander of Reserve Group in Western Front on July 23, 1921, and later as the commander of 3rd Group. After Sakarya Victory, he returned his duty in the Parliament due to new organization formed in Western Front. He became head of commission in 1922. Major General Yusuf Izzet MET who had various decorations and medals decorated by the Ottoman Empire, German Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire as well as the Independence Medal decorated by Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA), passed away on April 15, 1922.
