Within the framework of defence industry cooperation, the granted patrol vessel TCG Volkan began its transfer to the Maldives on July 1, 2025, and successfully completed the transit on August 7, 2025.

On August 10, 2025, TCG Volkan berthed at Malé Port, where a Turkish Flag Lowering Ceremony was held. The ceremony was attended by the Turkish Military Attaché in New Delhi accredited to the Maldives, as well as the Principal Director of International Defence Cooperation and Procurement at the Ministry of Defence of the Maldives.

The commissioning ceremony, officially marking TCG Volkan’s induction into the Maldives National Defence Force inventory, took place on August 15, 2025. The event was attended by the President of the Maldives, high-ranking state officials, the Turkish Ambassador to Colombo Semih Lütfü Turgut, and Admiral Kadir Yıldız, Commander of the Turkish Fleet.
