Turkish Naval Forces taking over the command of the Standing NATO Maritime Group-2 (SNMG2) between December 3, 2024-July 4, 2025, will carry out this mission for the 5th time.

Rear Admiral (LH) Halil İlker Avcı will be commanding the SNMG2 which is taken over from Canadian Navy with the handover ceremony held on December 3, 2024 at Aksaz Naval Base and Turkish frigate will serve as flagship.
