Yaşar GÜLER was born in Ardahan in 1954. He graduated from Army Academy with the rank of Second Lieutenant in 1974 and from Signal Corps School in 1975.

Having served as Signal Platoon and Company Commander at various units between the years of 1975 and 1984, Yaşar GÜLER graduated from Army War College in 1986 and from Armed Forces College in 1988.

As a staff officer, he served as Chief of Operations at Internal Regional Command between 1986 and 1988, as Planning Officer at Evaluation and Inspection Division of the Army between 1988 and 1991, as Chief of Operations and Training Branch at the 12th Infantry Division between 1991 and 1992, as Internal Security Battalion Commander between 1992 and 1994 in Silopi, as Turkish Deputy Brigade Commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina between 1994 and 1995, as Project Officer at the Office of Military Senior Counsellor of the Presidency between 1995 and 1997...

8th Activation of the MCM Black Sea Task Group Begins

The 8th Activation of the MCM BLACK SEA Task Group began on January 9, 2026, with the assembly of the Turkish command ship TCG Ütğm. Arif Ekmekçi (A-575), the Romanian minehunter ROS Ion Ghiculescu (M-270), the Bulgarian minesweeper BGS Priboy (M-63), and the Turkish minehunter TCG Ayvalık (M-267) in Umuryeri, Istanbul.

On January 10, 2026, the ships departed from Umuryeri to begin their mission, which aims to detect and neutralize drifting mines in the Black Sea and to conduct joint training exercises.

During the activation period, which will continue until January 19, 2026, the ships will also conduct port visits to Burgas and Constanta, in addition to their maritime training activities.
